The board had set aside granting funds to help fund the Prayer Chapel at Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
Why build a prayer chapel?
Every major movement in the history of the Christian church was first begun in prayer. If we want to see a new movement of God's Spirit in our day - and in our community - it needs to begin with prayer.
Can't we pray anywhere?
Yes, of course you can pray anywhere. However, there is something about a "hold/sacred place" that helps posture the heart of those who enter it, to diminish the distractions, and to create a feeling of expectation. This is a room designed for the church to use (at any time), for the prayer team to inhabit on a Sunday morning (providing more anonymity to those who desire prayer), and become the meeting place for families who are grieving at funerals.
